IB on the New Haven Green

Hello Cool Kin! It's been a while and we have some news. Our bas player KJ Dayton has left the group to concentrate on recording his solo work and we wish him all the best. He will certainly be missed! Our friend Steven Michels has agreed to sit in for our upcoming gig... On the New Haven Green! We're really excited and ready to play. It's been so long! IB takes the stage this Sunday April 25th at 4:30pm. We play for about a half and hour so don't be late! Greg

Ice Brothers gets ink! New Haven Advocate

Ice Brothers, Hologram Heart (self-released, icebrothers.us). This four-song EP is a pleasant collection of barroom pop, with clean-ish guitars, melodic bass, snappy drums — and gruff, Budweiser-chugging vocals. It's kind of like what Mike Ness from Social Distortion would sound like singing for a dance-y pop band. The leadoff track "Hologram Heart" is the most memorable, with a chorus-laden guitar, a bouncing, playful bass and a killer harmonica solo. In "Bombshell," Sid Gottlieb trades in the harmonica for swampy slide guitar while rhythm guitarist (and singer) Gregory Golda chugs away on an acoustic. "Highwire" is more laid-back, not exactly a ballad, but soft enough to be sung at half-volume. The last track is an "Eleanor Rigby" cover which has an interesting arrangement, using the established instruments at their disposal instead of the string sections used on the original version. Covering The Beatles is a tall order, but the Ice Brothers pull it off gracefully, adding a new dimension to a well-explored song. —Mike Sembos
